Tell us about your blog!

My blog is an English-written men’s style blog. I sort of see it as an online style guide, I try to find original outfits for men to be inspired by, that are fashion-forward but still remain wearable.

When + Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging on April 1^st in 2009, because I had been considering starting a blog for quite some time. I didn’t think a blog about my life would be of any interest to anyone, so I wrote about my biggest interest: fashion.

What do you love most about blogging?

To me, the writing part is the most challenging and rewarding. Most fashion blogs focus on personal style or fashion news, I try to write stories that readers enjoy and can have a bit of a laugh with, while at the same time offering them the latest trends.

Who are your biggest fans?

My best friends and family, I think. But I’ve had some really nice feedback from complete strangers too, and I’ve met some amazing people in the industry, so I’m very happy about that.

What has been your most popular blog post so far?

My post about how I met The Sartorialist was very popular, but it was a big deal after all, I think.

Could you describe your style?

It’s a bit of a fashion cliché, but I have quite an eclectic style. One day I can look really preppy and dandy, other times I have a bit of a rock’n’roll thing going on. I try mixing the two too, it’s not uncommon for me to pair skinnies and urban sneakers with a preppy blazer and tie.

What is (are) your favourite item(s) in your wardrobe?

I love my black skinny jeans and my slate grey blazer. My Jeremy Scott x Adidas sneakers are the most special items I own. I also adore my bow tie and the lightning bolt brooch I nicked from my sister.

Who are your style icons?

I don’t have one particular style icon, I just love browsing street style blogs and taking inspiration from fashion insiders and stylists. I do love perfect tailoring as seen on Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl, or Daniel Craig in James Bond.

Who is your favourite designer and what would you like to ask her/him?

I’m in love with many designers’ work, but my one all-time personal Jesus has to be Marc Jacobs. I think one question wouldn’t be enough, but if I only had one I’d ask him out to dinner so I could spend an entire evening questioning him and finding out what inspires him most.

What’s your favourite recipe?

I love my dad’s Caribbean recipe for roti (which is like a sort of pancake with spices and all kinds of vegetables and meat, so delicious). I like cooking too, my favourite homemade dish is tagliatelle with king prawns and a cream and pesto sauce.

Favourite T.V. shows?

Gossip Girl, Weeds, Glee, True Blood, Skins, The City, Top Gear, The Rachel Zoe Project and Nurse Jackie.

Most fashionable movie(s)?

The Devil Wears Prada, The September Issue, Valentino: The Last Emperor, Casino Royale, Breakfast At Tiffany’s and short films by designers as Karl Lagerfeld or brands like Prada.

Favourite night out?

Drinks with my best friends at a fabulous lounge bar and hitting the dance floor afterwards. Then making our way back home as the sun is rising and eating take-out and laughing uncontrollably.

What’s your vice?

I’m sure I have plenty, but I should really cut back on the junkfood. I’m going to buy an apple as we speak!

What gets you through a rough day?

A new glossy magazine like Vogue Hommes International and my favourite songs on my iPod. A sweet text from a friend is a wonderful remedy against a bad day too.

Tell us one of your ambitions…

It would be my biggest dream to become a successful fashion editor or writer for a respected magazine or company.

What do you love most about life?

I love that you never know what’s in store for you, who you are going to meet and how they will affect your life. I love that no matter what plans you make, life will just do as it pleases and you’re constantly having to improvise, which can be a major pain but also result into wonderful things.
